Currently, many efforts are made to design, study and synthesize new polymers and to create previously unknown polymer blends. For this purpose, rolling mills can be found as an extremely useful equipment for many companies and laboratories. Versatility and ease of use makes that these devices are very often used in industry of, among others, plastics, using for their production, for example, polyamides, polyesters or PVC.


Rolling mills are devices used for thermoplastic processing of a very wide range of materials. They give the opportunity to expand, as needed, by adding additional components to the equipment. In the plastics processing industry, these machines find their application mainly as universal devices that create mixtures for the entire spectrum of polymer materials, composites, silicones and rubber. This type of equipment also makes it possible to carry out research on the way how each process of production of new material works, which is the reason why currently more and more laboratories, both industrial and scientific ones, are equipped in the rolling mills.

Rolling mill from ZAMAK MERCATOR has two rollers and their surface is covered with a layer of hard technical chrome previously grinded and polished. Thanks to such features, the rollers are protected against plastic adhering to them. All of the rolling mill models proposed by us have three options for heating and cooling systems. It is possible to independently use the system for each of the rollers: water (work up to ), oil (standard work to , possible option up to ) or electric heating system (work to ) equipped with an air-cooling system. A particularly important feature, which is worth noting when choosing a rolling mill, is the torque of the rollers. In the case of ZAMAK MERCATOR devices, it is very high and, depending on the model, it is in the range of 550-4200 Nm, which allows mixing very difficult materials in the processing that put a high mechanical resistance.

ZAMAK MERCATOR rolling mills have a rigid and strong construction, as a result of which they are able to transfer unusually large power between the rollers during rolling (max. dynamic force between the rollers is up to 149 000 N) and off the rollers movement (max. static force between the rollers is up to 500,000 N). This allows the control of the gap adjustment between the rollers, even at high loads. The adjustment of the distance between the rollers can also take place during the rolling process, and the current position of the rollers is displayed on the screen. This parameter is maintained dynamically, which means that after setting a given gap, it is corrected in time with simultaneous maintenance of the parallel position of the rollers.


A very convenient solution is also the use of an inwerter drive controlled for each roller individually. Such equipment specification enables independent change of rotational speed of the rollers (from 0 to rated speed), with a constant friction coefficient and independently changing it with an indication of its current value. Ensuring the stability of the process by controlling the parameters of rotational speed and temperature over the entire width of the rollers, enables obtaining high product quality within dimensional tolerances. All these activities are very important for plastics producers due to the fact that they improve the economic efficiency of the production or research process.
